Relief from Work-Related Injuries

Every year, millions of dollars go into providing healthcare for people injured on the job.  What may be a surprise, however, is that the injuries usually aren’t from some kind of terrible accident, but are a result of simply sitting at a desk or picking up boxes.

These relatively minor movements can easily cause strain on the body.  The repetitive use of specific muscles or joints or even body inaction puts employees at risk of spinal injury.  In most cases, these injuries can be remedied with the help of chiropractic care.

We see our fair share of work-related injuries in our Kansas City area chiropractic office.  Most commonly, the problems arise from repetitive use that leads to stress on targeted areas of the body.  These injuries are avoidable if proper posture is practiced.  We teach our workman’s comp patients the importance of proper body care so the possibility of re-injury is minimized.

What Our Patients Are Saying About Their Job-Related Injury

Active Health KC Chiropractic & Rehab has patients coming to see us from a myriad of job positions, roles, and titles.  For this reason, the patients we see suffer from differing work-related injuries.  Some are severe and chronic, while others are more of a fleeting discomfort.  Either way, if your work routine is causing pain, no matter the severity, a chiropractor can help.

Most patients who visit us are suffering from one or more of the following:

After the pain has been detailed to our doctors, we can work on finding the cause of the pain in order to manage the injury itself.

Work-related injuries often include:

  • Inflammation
  • Strained muscle or sprained ligament
  • Herniated discs
  • Nerve irritation
  • And more

We understand the importance of being able to work, but working safely and comfortably is just as vital to a healthy lifestyle.  Finding body balance and security will aid in the prevention of spinal injury due to repetitive, overuse of specific areas of the body.

Causes of Work-Related Injury

When our patients come to us with a worker’s compensation claim, their careers run the gamut.  Some are very physical in their jobs, others input numbers into a computer all day.  The one constant is that they typically use consistent motions daily, for several hours a day.

Some of the most common reasons we see a worker’s comp patient at our Prairie Village chiropractic office are:

  • Bad posture
  • Turning repetitively
  • Picking up items repetitively
  • Muscle overuse
  • Sitting at a computer for several hours a day/continuous typing
  • Serious work-related accident
  • And more

Our main objective is to get our patients back to work as quickly and efficiently as possible.  The added mental stress of not working plays a pivotal role in the road to recovery.  We use healthy, healing, organic strategies in our wellness plan for each individual we see.

We provide treatment plans that are natural, without the use of medication or the need for surgery.  The treatment plan will restore proper function to the spine and joints and provide specific exercises and stretches that will benefit the integrity of the spine proactively and reduce the possibility of chronic pain and reinjury.

How We Treat Patients with Job-Related Injuries

When injured on the job many people feel the need to push through their pain.  Money, the possibility of job loss, and time are all on the line.  However, if problems arise and aren’t remedied quickly enough, more serious problems can occur.  These problems can lead to long-term pain management and even necessitate complete job loss.

At Active Health KC Chiropractic & Rehab we believe in the power of chiropractic care to enhance your quality of life.  Our techniques help support comfort and body wellbeing.

Some techniques we use to ensure our patients maintain a healthy body include:

Chiropractic care: this is a hands-on, non-surgical, and drug-free spinal treatment that involves spinal manipulation or adjustments and is used to release restricted joints of the spine and extremities.

Functional rehabilitation and exercise therapy: corrective exercises and stretching and successful rehabilitation techniques provide a safe way to treat pain and help the patient’s overall body performance.

Dry needling: using acupuncture-like needles, we can target very specific muscle and joint areas to alleviate tension, pressure, and stress allowing for fast relief.

McKenzie Method (MDT): these pain-free tests provide insight into a patient’s body posture and mobility, the results provide the information necessary to create a working wellness plan for the specific body of each patient.

Muscle and soft tissue therapy: also called myofascial release, this technique offers relief to pain connected to muscles or nerves that move improperly.

Nerve flossing: flossing a nerve will alleviate pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness caused by neural tension.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS): a powerful technique that promotes proper activation and coordination of the neuromuscular system.

On a patient’s initial visit to our chiropractic office, we will discuss medical history, current pain, and everyday work-life routine in order to make educated decisions on managing the pain.  After we’ve completed this evaluation, we will administer a physical exam that will help us determine how to treat the root of the patient’s problem.

Usually, our exams last an hour or less and the patient will often feel immediate relief from their pain.  We supply a series of exercises that the patient is urged to carry out to help maintain a safe and healthy body.

Will Active Health KC Chiropractic & Rehab Help My Work-Related Injury?

Our doctors have very successfully treated work injuries for over a decade.  We provide natural health treatments for several kinds of back injuries, repetitive stress and overuse injuries, carpal tunnel, and so much more.

Our hope is that once a patient comes to us for their job-related injury, we not only offer them a quick recovery from the underlying problem, but also the necessary tools to stay healthy, preventing them from having to come back to our office.

The longer a patient puts off treatment for their spine injury, the worse the pain will become and the chance for spreading the injury, chronic pain, or surgery becomes much higher.

We want our patients to get and maintain the lifestyle and body wellbeing they hope for and we hope to empower them from the inside out.

If you’re suffering from a work-related injury in the Leawood area, our chiropractic care office can help.  Don’t delay, avoiding a visit to a chiropractor can cause a visit to the emergency room.
